The Ao Kaketshir Telongjem Kohima (Ao Students Union Kohima) celebrated its Students’ Day-cum-General Meeting on 2nd October 2019 at Molu Ki, Paramedical Colony Kohima.
Former Governor and Chief Minister, Dr. S.C. Jamir, who graced the function as the main speaker, said we need to change with the pace of the world. He pointed out that nagas talk about the problems and hardships that hinders us, but we do not realize that hatred, jealousy, disunity and bloodshed amongst us are the real causes that hinder us from moving forward.
Jamir further pointed out that many nagas, today, are afraid to speak and stand for the truth as they have become selfish and greedy and the many naga communities are disintegrated due to commercialization of politics and lack of righteous leaders.
Therefore he called upon the student community not to dwell on past glories but focus on the future to build our state with a righteous mind, Jamir encouraged the students that they should stand on the truth as the older generations have failed to do so.
He also said that they need to change their mindset as the Look East Policy is focusing for new market avenues linking our country with other South-East countries, and he also cautioned of the threats it could pose on us if we do not change our mindset and be vigilant. The recipients for the AKTK Meritorious Award 2019 were Sashitsungla Jamir from Little Flower Higher Secondary School, Kohima and Imsurenla Longkumer from Fernwood School Kohima who secured the top 16 and 19 in the HSLC respectively.
