PRESS STATEMENT

The NSCN/GPRN hereby issued this statement to clarify the confusions by Indian and Myanmar against the NSCN/GPRN and innocent Naga public.

In complete violation of the ceasefire ground rules, the Myanmar army Tatmadaw Northern Command comprising of some eight battalions forced their way into the council headquarters at Taka on 29 January 2019. However, the NSCN/GPRN and the Naga army maintain extreme restraint and vacated the Headquarters.

In the midst of the commotion, some senior party members (ceasefire delegation Team) and Naga Army cards were arrested by the Myanmar military under false implication for which they are confined in Khamti prison till today.

Presently, Myanmar has created a war-like situation in the Naga areas by deploying a massive military forces and heavy artillery causing havoc and uneasiness among the Naga public.

A few days back the Tatma indiscriminately fire artilleries and heavy guns into the jungles and near populated areas in the Konyak Region trying to ignite fair and panic in the midst of the revolutionaries and innocent public alike.

For the record, NSCN/GPRN on the invitation of the Myanmar government singed a legal ceasefire agreement with Myanmar as two separate entities on 9th April 2012, and ever since the party has sincerely honor the ceasefire Ground-rules.

The Five points of the Agreement.

  1. To stop fighting and cease all hostilities
  2. A Ceasefire Office to be designated at Khamti town.
  3. To provide information on troop’s movement with each other’s jurisdictio
  4. Free passage for NSCN/GPRN members within Myanmar (without arms& uniform)
  5. The Myanmar government and NSCN/GPRN will cooperate and work together
to promote peace and development in the Naga areas.

Hence, the ceasefire is not secretive but crystal clear with no hidden string attach. The complexity of the ceasefire areas when the Myanmar government started applying hostile attitudes towards the Nagas. She accused the NSCNIGPRN with baseless allegations and enforces her Nationwide ceasefire Agreement(NCA) on the Nagas. Yet in spite of heavy threats and intimations the NSCN/GPRN refuse to sign the NCA as it is completely aline to the Nagas and has nothing to do with the Naga struggle for independence.
