Mokokchung District Mental Health Programme in collaboration with Mokokchung District Legal Services Authority organized a program in observance of “World Mental Health Day” at Ongpangkong Salang, Mokokchung on 10th October 2019.
Exhorting the gathering, Assistant Commissioner, Mokokchung, Rohit Singh dwelt on the factors associated with suicides. He said many a times such unfortunate incidents happen especially among the young people due to domestic violence, lack of employment, pressure from studies, frustration, depression, neglect in society and limited society awareness.
Therefore, in order to prevent such incidents, Singh maintained that we need to educate the people to cherish life and have faith in the almighty in times of negative impacts of life. Such issues are so complex that as a community we should be looking forward to identify and take care of those people who have psychological issues and other problems.
He said parents have a great role to play in identifying the behavior of their children and to understand the situation. To fight depression, we must encourage one another to take interest in Sports, Music, Yoga etc. Speech on the theme was delivered by representatives of the District Mental Health Programme (DMHP) and Mokokchung District Legal Services Association (MDLSA), Keynote address was delivered by CMO Mokokchung, Dr. Chubala, Invocation was pronounced by Pastor, Artang Ward, Bendang Longkumer while Bendangsenla PLV chaired the programme.
