Taking a serious note of the threat posed to the state due to the influx of illegal immigrants and also owing to the lackadaisical approach of the state government in implementing ILP in Dimapur, the Naga Students’ Federation conducted a surprised ILP checking at chumukedima on 7th August 2019.
The NSF team led by Dievi Yano, Vice-President along with volunteers checked on all vehicles (both private & taxis) heading to and from Dimapur and found many ILP defaulters in the restricted area. The exercise which lasted for 12 hours culminated at 7 O’clock in the evening.
More than a thousand ILP card holders were verified and 308 defaulters were deported. The NSF expressed gratitude to the ASU officials & it’s volunteers, DNSU officials and Chakroma Youth Organisation for the services rendered to the federation during the exercise. Having placed the hard facts and figures on how the ILP regime is being rampantly voilated and misused, the NSF reiterated its earlier demand to the state for implementation of ILP in dimapur without further delay.
